 Published Poems

Welcome Home

My mind can’t seem to hold a thought
The anger, pain and tears have fought
The winner now, you tell me who
I dedicate this poem to you
To those who come straight home from work
In time to have their feelings hurt
The beds unmade the laundry’s where?
Here, there and everywhere
The kids are running round unfed
It’s past their time to be in bed
Collect your thoughts relax and go
It’s time to start your one man show

Same Team

I don’t know whether to celebrate or cry
The old year just passed right on by
My strength and faith diminished as I struggled day to day
Mocking my ambition as I tried to make my way
Working on the person I was truly meant to be
Stopping all the watching as I bend to take a knee
In protest or prayer, we all must care what happens to the dream
1% can never be greater than 99 if we’re all on the same team.

Is Poetry A lost Art?

Whether you're a past, present
Or future poetry lover
You will discover
Everyone will be touched
By it in time
The beauty of your favorite song
Or a simple nursery rhyme
I define the moments in life
Be they happy, sad or cruel
I use the events and people of the world
As my never ending fuel
Never lost is poetry
It just needs to be remembered
The art that allows anyone in
If their hearts they will surrender

Good Morning World

Good morning world
I’m up again
The t.v’s on and I can’t pretend
Those yesterday’s problems
Have been dreamed away
Cause yesterday’s problems
Are now todays

Check to Check

You get up and out with resentment and doubt
And you give nothing but your best
Today is pay day and your nonchalant about it anyway
When you’re living check to check
Your money this money is not really yours
And now all your hard work you second guess
Direct deposit or cash you’ve already done the math
When you’re living check to check
You pay off your debts, borrowed money and lost bets
And sadly, there’s nothing left
By now you’ve learned to stash transportation and meal cash
Cause you’re living check to check
Loose change and hidden bills is what you seek
As you struggle through the next week
And all of this you’ve come to expect
Your spirits are down today
Cause all your hard work it doesn’t seem to pay
When you’re living check to check

The Boys In Blue

My heart weeps for the world today, I am not surprised anymore by
what people say
But I am still appalled by what they do
We’ve been programmed to fear those wearing white sheets, but what about those wearing blue.
When they approach we are panicked and humbled our hands we raise high,
Redirect our minds to an instant reply, “I’m unarmed Please Don’t Shoot”
(gun shots)
The outcome repeats, a family mourns and weeps
The officer, the trooper he was just doing his job, he feared for his life, he didn’t mean any harm…….

Confident

I cannot please everybody
Some have got to hate
It’s them that take the good in me
And make it oh so great!
To be me;
and I’m not conceited
I’m just confident and I’ve learned
To be proud of everything I have
And even more so, of what I’ve earned
There are times when I let them get to me
And knock me off my game
But when I lose focus
And I take a few loses
I only have myself to blame

Great Day

Today will be a great day
I want more than
                                    they allow me to have
Sometimes I allow myself
                                      to forget that
and dare to think
                                                    someone else can give me,
what I must give myself
